How To Grow Your Business Without Losing Your Mind.

Okay, this might be a little close to home this week as I’m in the process of starting up my own business, and let me tell you, the nights are long and then days are even longer. (If you don’t get that “Friends” reference then we really need to talk!)

I had an epiphany this week while I was up to my eyes in analytics and reports – no seriously, I’m confident that one was nearly 6ft long – that I haven’t eaten a good meal in days and my hair hasn’t seen as much as a brush and some dry shampoo in over a week, and let’s not even state on the state of my nails because I’ve bitten off 99% of my gels! Where am I getting with this?

Aside from looking like the worst version of myself, I’m really not helping my business by working 23 hours a day glued to my macbook.

It may seem like being at one with your business is the best way to be, but trust me, all you end up with is a lot of repetition, a serious case of carpal tunnel syndrome, and a bird’s nest for a hairdo.

So how do you grow your business without the late nights and endless cups of coffee? Well, I can’t force you to put down the espresso but I can show you how to work as effectively as possible.

Step 1

Schedule regular breaks Every hour I get up and walk around for 10-15 minutes. This seems like an impossible task when you are chained to your desk (or the sofa…I’m not judging) but I swear by getting up and doing a mindless task for a little break. Life starts to pile up when you are working for yourself, so scheduling a regular break to get daily tasks back on track is key to being as efficient as possible.

Step 2

Make a plan Planning out your future helps you set goals and milestones, but also helps keep you on track instead of running in circles. When you set a plan, make sure to set rewards too for when you smash through your milestones, it will spur you on to keep going!

Step 3

Stay accountable

Having a group of people (like the Netwomen.co club!) is essential to gaining invaluable insights like market research, feedback and all round positivity. When you have a group of like-minded and focused people in your niche, it will help you to stay on track and clear your vision with your project.

Now where did I put that hairbrush…?
